Google’s latest “suggestion” to not show popups until a visitors 2nd time to site further infringes on a business’s freedom to manage their website.
For many websites, Google is the leading source of traffic. By not following their suggestions, businesses risk a substantial loss in visits (as the website will be penalized).
Over the past few years, Google has evolved their search engine algorithms to penalize sites that don’t follow their suggestions. For example; reciprocal linking, buying links, duplicate content, targeting keywords, header tags, keyword stuffing…the list goes on.
